«Prior to his trip to China, on his paintings as well as on his graphic work, the main characters have been the couple or the soloist that contort themselves electrified by a tropical rhythm in a vibrant color atmosphere. In Colombia, he started with the Cumbia dance as his painting subject, but in the Far East his interest widened to other rhythms such as ballet or the ritual dances of remote forefathers. Considering the implicit music in his painting, it will not be foolish to recall outstanding predecessors that have left an imprint in his work such as Degas, Toulouse Lautrec or Henri Matisse.
According to Chinese calligraphy tradition, his schematic figures are rendered through precise and quick brush strokes which give a sense of movement.
His work of art is a clever synthesis of the austere Chinese calligraphic tradition and the chromatic way of the West, rendered with robust acrylics and ink on linen or paper, as well as an exuberant imprint of color in a later period of abstract preference.»
